The Joint Government/Voluntary and Community Sector Forum, commonly known as the Joint Forum, was established in October 1998 following the identification of a gap in arrangements for regular dialogue between the voluntary and community sector (VCS) and Government departments.
The Concordat is the framework for developing effective partnership working between government and the VCS. It was agreed and signed by both the NI Executive and the VCS Group of the Joint Forum in March 2011.

With the launch in December of headline figures from the 2011 Census and more to come from a detailed analysis of the figures throughout 2013, NICVA thought it timely to bring together the statisticians and the voluntary and community sector to see what the Census has to offer us, what valuable information can be mined from it and how it might help form strong, evidence based policy positions.

He was accompanied by the Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland.

In the final Viewfinder survey of 2012 the uneven impact of the current financial situation in the voluntary and community sector over the last year continued to be apparent. At first glance the results seem to paint a gloomy picture for the sector but look closer and you’ll see that the resilience of organisations and the sector as a whole is a common theme in Viewfinder’s research.
